Breaking Boundaries in Munich

munich

We are thrilled to announce that the Breaking Boundaries Exhibition will be landing in Munich this September.

After hitting off the project in Istanbul, Turkey, continuing on to Maastricht in The Netherlands and then Castiglione dei Pepoli in Italy, the crate containing the artworks is now arriving in Munich.

To celebrate the arrival of the wonderful artworks and the international effort behind this project, we would like to invite you to join us at the opening of the exhibition at Super+Centercourt @supercentercourt (Adalbertstraße 44, Munich), on the 3rd of September at 6 PM.

This edition is curated by Jessica Capra @allymcjes , also coordinator of the project, and Sophie-Charlotte Bombeck @sophiecharlottebombeck

The central theme of the exhibition is ‚travelling‘ and the works on display interpret this theme from a variety of perspectives, reflecting on the impact of the pandemic. The artists draw from their own cultural contexts and their personal experiences, looking at the relationship existing between travel and memory, human rights, social justice, and subjectivity.

The 12 emerging artists whose works are featured in the exhibition are from Turkey, Italy, The Netherlands, and Germany.

As everyone knows, the KloHäuschen has been hosting its own Biennale since 2012: an international exhibition of contemporary art. Every 2 years. Always in the even years. So far, always when venerable biennials such as Venice, Istanbul or Lyon were not in session. But now, in 2022, many of the colleagues – above all the great Venice Biennale – have suddenly changed their rhythm.
The KloHäuschen is sure: the reason can only be that they finally want to take place
in the same year as the KloHäuschen Biennale!

Scholarship for Visual Art of the City of Munich

munich

This year was a special year.
I am very grateful to have received the Scholarship of Visual Art of the City of Munich. Unfortunately I couldn’t be part of the beautiful award ceremony in November, so the wonderful Yvonne Leinfelder created a little documentary about my work (soon to be uploaded here). That’s how in the end I could send some words from Mozambique to Munich! I was more than happy that my mom would receive the prize for me and have a wild night with her girls crew at the new Gasteig HP8 space in Munich! Thanks the the city!

World of Art – Online Auction

munich

I’m a little excited to be part of this year’s World of Art – Online Auction. My record „Planet Earth Symphony“ with an edition of only 5 copies will be auctioned (call number 24). It contains the sound history of our earth compressed into 16 minutes and is a real listening pleasure. I composed it together with the astrophysicist and metal head Dr. Ferdinand Hitzler.

With performative interludes by the Residenztheater actress Pauline Fusban and the director Jakob Roth, the evening is sure to be a great pleasure!

World of Art – Online Auction
09.12.2021 from 19:00-21:00 hrs.

DEBUTANT*INNEN 2021

07 September 2021 – 02 October 2021

With the initiative „DEBUTANTINNEN des BBK München und Oberbayern“ (Debutants of the BBK Munich and Upper Bavaria), the Berufsverband Bildender Künstlerinnen München und Oberbayern e. V. (Professional Association of Visual Artists Munich and Upper Bavaria) has been promoting outstandingly talented young artists in Bavaria since 1982. (BBK) has been promoting outstandingly talented young artists in Bavaria since 1982. Every year, the exhibition offers three artists the opportunity to exhibit their work in the GALERIE DER KÜNSTLER*INNEN and thus celebrate their professional debut at a central exhibition venue for contemporary art in Munich.

In addition, the Bavarian State and the LfA Förderbank Bayern support the series of young artists by financing a monograph, which enables the exhibitors to use the printed work as a means of artistic expression in addition to the exhibition format. The monograph offers the artists a platform to present their own artistic practice on a national level. The publication of Hyesun Jung, Sophia Mainka and Janina Totzauer – published by the BBK Munich and Upper Bavaria – will take place during the exhibition opening.
