Three channel video installation
2025
“The Chosen Ones” is a three channel computergame, set in a dystopian future, where “The System” governs a highly controlled and oppressed society. Humans appear brainwashed, serving as tools of this regime, though its ultimate goals remain unclear. The story revolves around four women who initially conform to the system but gradually rebel against it.
The viewer witnesses the formation of a women’s network that supports the player of the computer game in ending an unwanted pregnancy and reclaiming self-determination. Using playful strategies and gamification, the work opens up new ways of engaging with complex issues such as patriarchy, religion, sexualised violence, and reproductive rights.
It was filmed in post- and pre-Trump California in September 2024.
