series of ceramics
2026

Totzauer’s series Flut addresses the political and feminist dimensions of the colonization of corporeality. Rooted in postcolonial discourse, the works explore themes of otherness, belonging, and identity. This new iteration consists exclusively of ceramic sculptures presenting a menagerie of hybrid beings in which alien life forms merge with human attributes. These otherworldly creatures seem to have arrived from outer space,
inhabiting an uncanny space between the familiar and the unknown.
They pass through different stages of life, from egg to tadpole, fully grown creature, and eventually mother. Yet their exact state of being remains elusive: are they dormant, hibernating through an alien winter, nesting, or preparing to emerge into another phase of existence? Their forms offer only clues, leaving their life cycles and inner worlds open to speculation.
The exhibition took place in the offspace EarEar, which once was an ordinary apartment and got taken over by art.
